Tribes TLC 1 Certification: Building Community for Learning
The purpose of this 24-hour training is to prepare teachers to develop a caring environment and school community, and to reach and teach students through an active learning approach that promotes student development, motivation, and academic achievement.
Educators will learn how to:
- Develop a positive learning environment in the classroom and whole school community
- Teach students specific collaborative skills to work well together
- Transfer responsibility to students to help each other learn academic material, to maintain the positive Tribes agreement and environment
- Use the progress for problem-solving and conflict resolution
- Design cooperative learning lesson plans
- Initiate faculty groups for planning, co-coaching and support
Date: Session 1: April 30, May 1, May 2, 2013
Session 2: May 7-9, 2013
Time: 8:30- 5:00 pm
(Must be in full attendance on each day to receive certification)
Location: Hamilton Campus (Room 14)
Cost: $220 (Includes text, supplies, refreshments, and lunches)
Minimum number of participants: 18
Maximum number of participants: 30
